Sunlight- food for the soul as well as the foliage

Lynn Headwaters Regional Park, March 2005

We went hiking this past weekend because it was way too beautiful to spend the night anywhere else. And of course, we couldn't go without our cameras. Thank goodness spring is on its way. Winter can be torture for a nature photographer.

Beauty in everything

Stanley Park, February 2005

We went to Stanley Park to photograph some of the birds on Lost Lagoon this past weekend. In late afternoon, it was increasingly difficult to get a sharp shot so I decided to switch over to the macro lens for some closeups. I considered myself lucky when I came across some dead foliage that was translucent against the setting sun.

An elderly woman who likes to frequent the gardens stopped to see what we were doing. She asked me why I was interested in photographing dead flowers such as that. I just smiled and told her that there is beauty in everything. She said she'd have to remember that. Perhaps I'll need to print out a photo of one of my shots to show her the delicate beauty that I had found.

I will be posting more in the next couple days.
